Frequently asked questions

How do I find the library's databases/online resources?

There are two ways:

  1. If you’re in the portal, look for the three-lines menu in the left, top corner of the screen. Hover over this to open; then click Library. From this drop-down, choose Databases. Then click the link for the A-Z Databases List.
  2. Go directly to the databases.

How do I find a book?

Visit our online catalog to browse our print and electronic book collections. For assistance with ebooks, see our eBooks Library Guide. For general questions and assistance, email library staff, or call 309.341.5257.

How do I get help with research if I’m not able to come to campus?

You can schedule virtual appointments with or submit questions to the librarian or through the Ask a librarian form.

Other resources for assistance with research off-campus include our library guides — online help guides for research, citations, academic honesty and more.

How do I schedule time in the light board, one button, virtual reality or podcast studios?

For questions about using the light board, One Button, virtual reality or podcast studio at the Galesburg campus, email the Teaching and Learning Center (FTLC), or call 309.341.5438.

How do I get the textbooks I need for class?

To rent or buy textbooks, visit the bookstore & spirit shop, located in B building inside the Student Center. Some instructors place copies of their course textbooks on reserve in the library. If your instructor chooses to do this, you can borrow these items from the library's main desk. Checkout lengths are set by the instructor; most reserve items checkout for four hours of in-library use.
