Sandburg is one of 13 colleges (two‐year or four‐year) in the state to offer a dental hygiene program and one of just four in Illinois to offer a program in mortuary science. Sandburg’s partnership with Career Coach allows students and community members alike to explore for free the career options that best fit them.
Sandburg's offerings
Established in 1966, the college features transfer agreements and dual-admission partnerships with several four‐year colleges and universities; online and hybrid learning options; an honors program; and workforce development and community education course opportunities for lifelong learners. Sandburg Chargers athletics includes men’s baseball and soccer, women’s softball and volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, esports (the first community college competitive gaming program in Illinois) and golf through the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Sandburg is consistently recognized as one of the top community college its size in the country for digital technology. The college’s MakerSpace enables the community and students to create, build and generate ideas through the use of technology.
