Sandburg offers several health sciences programs that provide the opportunity to influence the well-being of individuals, families and communities. You’ll acquire the knowledge, skills and professional values necessary for dynamic careers in healthcare. Our nursing and health profession graduates consistently score above state and national averages on licensing exams, and most of our alumni report employment immediately upon graduation and continued success in their health careers.

 

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)

This course gives you the skills to perform basic patient care in a variety of healthcare settings and to be a nursing assistant under an RN or LPN. Learn more.

PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)

This one-year certificate prepares you for entry-level as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Learn more.

LPN-RN

The LPN to RN articulation program can be completed in one year at which point you can apply for the associate in applied science degree in nursing Learn more.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING (RN)

This two-year associate in applied science degree in nursing, which prepares you to be an entry-level registered nurse (RN). Learn more.

RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY

This two-year degree prepares you to perform diagnostic X-ray exams in hospitals, imaging centers, physicians' offices and other health-related institutions. Learn more.

CT IMAGING ADVANCED CERTIFICATE

This one-semester advanced certificate program prepares radiographers to perform CT procedures in hospitals and imaging centers. Learn more.

DENTAL HYGIENE

You'll become a dental hygienist in two years (including one summer) with this hands-on program. Learn more.

MORTUARY SCIENCE

Sandburg is one of only a handful of schools in the state to offer both a two-year and an accelerated associate degree program in mortuary science.  Learn more.

PHLEBOTOMY

This course teaches you how to collect blood thorugh venipuncture and capillary puncture, as well as clinical laboratory procedures typically performed by healthcare professionals. Learn more.
